We had Tom Grau out today from The Training Center. We have been using them for three years and they’re great. You’ve heard all the stories… they are all true.
Today we spent talking about goals and the really important stuff that matters in our lives, both at work and in our real lives away from work. Because when it comes down to it, Is there really anything else that matters than our real lives? Work is just an avenue to get us there.
We did some “sales training” stuff too. In less than five minutes of coaching were able to keep a job that we were the highest bidder by 17%. The client called us yesterday to see if we could lower our price closer to the next bidder. We told them we would call him back once we spoke to the estimator to see if there was any room for an adjustment.
They coached us to tell the client that “If I lower the price, how could you ever trust us again? It meant that we lied the first time.” The client agreed and faxed over a signed proposal. Such a great selling technique.
The training really works.

The Sandler Training Golf Team will be well represented at this week’s historic Wyndham Championship in Greensboro, N.C. as John Rollins and Omar Uresti join in the Aug. 11-17 event.
The Wyndham returns to the Sedgefield Country Club in southwest Greensboro after a 31-year absence. Sedgefield is where PGA legends Sam Snead and Ben Hogan first competed seven decades ago, according to PGA.Com.
This past weekend, Sandler Training star Woody Austin participated in the 90th PGA Championship in Michigan.
Sandler Training Golf Team star John Rollins had a sizzling performance this weekend at the Legends Reno-Tahoe Open, placing second with an 11 under par 277 on the Nevada course.
Rollins shot nine birdies on his way to a second round 66 (six under par). During the third round, he made a 6-foot eagle putt on the par-5 fourth, the Associated Press reported.
Rollins’ rocking play earned him 1,100 points in the FedEx Cup standings, with a projected ranking in the top 85, according to PGATOUR.com.
Sandler Training teammate Omar Uresti shot a first round 68, four under par, on his way to a solid performance at Legends Reno-Tahoe. Uresti sunk a first round hole-in-one on the Par 3 16th hole, and fired two eagles in the tournament, PGA.com reported.

Sandler Training Golfer Brian Bateman had surgery during the British Open to repair a torn labrum in his right shoulder. Brian has been playing in pain since February of this year and made the decision to have the surgery in the middle of the ‘08 season instead of waiting until the off season.
Brian’s surgery was a success and he is expected to make a full recovery. He will begin rehabbing the shoulder in August and his doctor should clear him to start hitting balls in the middle of September. He expects to be back at 100% and looks forward to playing a full schedule in 2009.
We recently saw Brian at the Buick in Detroit and he spoke very fondly of his relationship with Sandler Training. He mentioned how nice it was that Sandler Training folks come up to him at the tournaments and offer words of encouragement. He said it gets very lonely on the TOUR and seeing the people from the Sandler Sales Training team makes it easier.
Omar Uresti, who grabbed the 11th spot in last week’s final round of the U.S. Bank Championship, once again played notably at the RBC Canadian Open.
He tied for the 22nd spot scoring a 72 in the first round and continued to pick up the pace with a 68 in both the 2nd and final rounds. Uresti ended the match with a final score of 277.
Uresti is preparing to keep up his game this weekend for the Legends Reno-Tahoe Open in Reno, Nevada.
